The British Climb™
The British Climb is an odyssey through time—an immersive journey that winds through a region where the elegance of the British era lives on, seamlessly interwoven with Indian and Irish influences. Beloved by nature enthusiasts, this scenic trail offers panoramic mountain vistas, the soothing sounds of cascading waterfalls, and the rare chance to photograph wildlife thriving in a unique, untouched ecosystem. The route unfolds in two legs:
The First Leg

The first leg begins in Wembly, a town nurtured by British planters Vincent, McPherson and Irish planter Murphy. Journey through mountains filled with pineapple and rubber plantations for an aromatic experience to reach the last remaining bungalow from an era gone by, owned by Murphy’s friend, Raman Kankani, once a favored retreat of British and Irish visitors. Today, this bungalow is home to the Nature Sanctuary Urumbi Hills Resort.
The Second Leg
After a night of relaxation soaking in the waterfall pool and by the hearth of the campfire, the second leg continues from the bungalow through an offroad path (jeep service available on request) surrounded by tea and cardamom plantations. The final stretch is via a rocky road for the adventurous and those who brave it, obtain a reward, the serene Madammakulam waterfall basin. This hidden gem discovered by the wife of the British Tea Factory Inspector Robinson, traveling on horseback. After this, gaze down from Urumbikara peak for a new perspective of the adventure completed.
